Music Academy

St. Mary's Music Academy provides private, professional music instruction in piano, voice, violin, organ, viola, cello, and guitar throughout the year to students of all ages in the parish and in the community, whether the student's goal is learning for musical enjoyment or for the concert stage.

St. Mary's is centrally located at 108 West Farriss Avenue near downtown High Point, and offers a protected environment for students who wish to develop their talents. We have splendid facilities for music instruction, including a six-foot Steinway Grand Piano, a Yamaha Concert Grand, and a six-foot Yamaha Grand.  We also have an excellent Casavant pipe organ. Performances

Students at the Music Academy perform often in recitals held bi-monthly at the church. They also have the opportunity to play in recitals and festivals sponsored by the High Point Piano Teachers Association and the North Carolina Music Teachers Association Festival held each March at UNC-Greensboro.

Music Discovery Camp

The Academy sponsors two week-long Music Discovery Camps for children who could not afford private lessons and who are from a multi-cultural family background.  The Academy staff teaches the children beginning lessons in piano, violin, and guitar. Children are selected with the assistance of the High Point Latino Family Center as well as the Guilford County Schools English As A Second Language personnel. Students who show great interest and potential may be selected for a partial scholarship to continue studying at the Music Academy. St. Mary's has a scholarship fund (the "Adkins-Brown-Clinard") to assist in the funding.  The children leave the camp with greater self-confidence and pride in their accomplishments as well as the knowledge that music is truly the universal language.
