Sunday Mornings for Middle & High School Youth...St. Mary's has a wide variety of offerings on Sunday morning that will appeal to members and visitors of all ages. “Making It Real and Relevant”: Our middle school (including 5th graders) and high school classes are using a program called "Making It Real and Relevant". This curriculum engages youth in examining passages of the Bible. Each lesson makes use of small and/or large group discussion, activities, and popular music and/or video clips that encourage the participants to discover that God, Christ, the Bible and one's faith and values are all real and relevant to their lives. In the Middle School class (5th graders are invited into this class), their curriculum is more ‘topic’ based. This facilitates using scripture and relating it back to broader topics that directly relate to events and activities in their lives. The High School class is using the same material except that theirs is Lectionary based and follows the Gospel teachings of the day. Each class uses multi-media to reflect on the lesson of the day and empowers youth to see secular movies and hear music with different eyes and ears. Youth Confirmation: St. Mary's is a faith community dedicated to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the young people of our parish through fellowship, worship and service. St. Mary’s takes a ‘whole person’ approach to Confirmation. In doing so, we are able to reach youth where they are on their own spiritual journeys. Youth are eligible for Confirmation beginning at age 14. Please contact the clergy if your son or daughter is interested in Confirmation. Outreach Opportunities: Middle and High Schoolers are welcome to volunteer to cook meals for Open Door Ministries. Check out our Outreach page for more information on Open Door Ministries.
