Christian Education for
Adults
At
St. Mary's, we affirm that Christian Formation is a life-long process.
We don't stop growing in the faith whenever we quit attending
Sunday School as a child.
Sunday mornings:
Each
Sunday, four opportunities for Adult Formation take place during the
10:00 a.m. Christian Formation for All hour.
Currently, we have two Bible studies, both meeting in the Education
Building. One following the
Kerygma curriculum, studying one book of the Bible at a time.
The other follows along with the lessons appointed for that
Sunday's worship.
In
the Parish Hall, we have an Adult Forum. The program year is divided
into several short courses.
Short course topics vary widely, from environmental stewardship to
worship 101. These courses
are led by clergy, staff members, parishioners, and guests.
There
is also a casual gathering on the second floor of the Education Building
where excellent coffee is
served in a convivial atmosphere.
Parishioners take turns serving as the barista.
Formation happens in this gathering through conversation and
fellowship.
At other times:
Other
formation opportunities take place during the week.
A
mother's of young children Bible study meets Monday mornings at 9:30
a.m. in the Education Building.
Child care is available.
Also,
a women's Bible study meets each Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the Education
Building.
Various other formation opportunities are offered throughout the year,
like our Lenten and Advent Wednesday night series, quiet days, prayer
groups, and books groups.
